Bill Deater: Grant Township Board - Supervisor
William Paul Deater, known to every one as Bill, was born and raised in Blaine, MI. He was
educated in a one room school house in Blaine, and went to high school in Port Huron. Bill went to
Iron Workers Federal Trade Schools for 4 years and attended classes at St. Clair County Community
College in Port Huron. He married his wife Susannah and they reside on the farm that was once owned
by Susannah's family. They have two sons and one daughter. Bill has been a member of the Grant
Township Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years and has served as an officer in the past. He has
been past president and member of the Planning Commission as well as property manager. Bill became
supervisor November 20th, 2004, ready and willing to serve Grant Township.

Nancy Sharum: Grant Township Board - Clerk
Nancy Sharum first started working for the township as an extra hand around the office both paid
and as a volunteer. She has been married to husband Gary for 42 years. She is a volunteer on the
Parks Committee, loves spending time with her husband, 5 married kids and spoiling her 9
grandchildren, gardening and crossword puzzles. Nancy has an extensive business background starting
out as a high school co-op secretary at 15. She managed the offices of 3 different companies as a
working Mom over her vast career before retiring in 2004. In January 2006, she was appointed the
Deputy Clerk by Laurie Kring. Nancy was appointed Township Clerk by the board on April 1, 2006.
Nancy feels privileged to be serving the residents of Grant Township.

Kathy Bert: Grant Township Board - Treasurer
Kathleen A. Bert, has been a township resident for 16 years. She is married to Scott and
has three teenage daughters. Kathy was educated in Port Huron and worked for the Port Huron
Police Department for 10 years before accepting a position with the St. Clair County Juvenile Court
System. She worked there for 4 years before leaving to stay home and raise her daughters and help
with their home based photography and video production business. Before children Kathy
had obtained her scuba diving certification and spent many hours here and away diving. Now she
enjoys spending time in her flower beds and her vegetable garden. Kathy took over as treasurer on
November 20th, 2004 and has found the position to be a challenging and fulfilling experience.

David Rutkofske: Grant Township Board - Trustee
David R. Rutkofske has lived in Grant Township for 14 years. He is married to Connie and
together they have 3 children, and 5 grandchildren. He owns and operates Woods Edge Herb Farm which
is an organic herb farm in Grant Township. Dave enjoys music promotion, even owning a small
recoding studio in his home. He has over 23 year experience as a volunteer on the Grant Township
Fire Department. Dave is the Electrical Inspector for the Township and he is also in charge of
address assignments. David is the senior member on the Grant Township Board of Trustees as he has
been a Trustee since 1996. Dave is finishing his 3rd term as Grant Township Trustee. Dave works to
keep the Township moving in a positive direction for its residents.

David Lamb: Grant Township Board - Trustee
David S. Lamb was raised in Grant Township and education in Port Huron Schools. He lived for a
short time outside of the township and married his wife Denise. They have two sons. They moved back
into Grant Township and renovated Dave's grandparent's farmhouse where they reside today. Dave has
worked at Nordgren Automotive for 22 years where he is a machining manager. When he's not spending
time with his two young boys, Dave enjoys hunting and gardening. He has been a member of the Grant
Township Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years. He is Planning Commission Secretary and has been
on the Planning Commission for many years. Dave ran for Trustee because he cares about our
community and its citizens. Dave is in his second term as Grant Township Trustee.
